In comparison to flower, processed cannabis products in Ohio have been slower to see prices lower. Much of this is based on the fact that only 10 out of 40 total processors have been approved for operations, with only 7 processors with product currently on the market.
For the first time last week, One Orijin introduced their first medical cannabis product to Ohio's program. In order to be part of the Ohio Marijuana program, you must have a marijuana card to access dispensaries. Learn more on how to get your medical marijuana card online today! One Orijin serves as only one of two current processors that are not directly affiliated to a cultivation facility. In the cases of Firelands Scientific, Standard Wellness, Grow Ohio, Buckeye Relief, and Wellspring Fields, they hold both a cultivation and processing facility, which means that they are able to process their own flower.
For One Orijin, they are tasked with taking Ohio cultivators' flower and trim for the sole purpose of processing the cannabis into other products. Ohio's market allows for a number of processed products, including edibles, tinctures, capsules, concentrated waxes and oils, and topical products.
Who is One Orijin?
One Orijin is located in Columbus near the John Glenn Columbus International Airport. One Orijin is owned by Schottenstein Aphria, the owners of Riverside's first dispensary Mad River Remedies. The small team at One Orijin is currently stocked with experts in cannabis processing that bring experience from other state operations. While they just recently became operational, One Orijin still has a huge amount of room in their 10,000 sq. ft. facility to expand operations as the program progresses.
One Orijin's facility is stocked with a number of incredible machines that are designed specifically to cannabis processing, in addition to a number of pharmaceutical-grade equipment that has been repurposed for cannabis extraction. As of right now, One Orijin is utilizing CO2 extraction methods for their processed products, further refining the oil into usable forms such as distillate.
Uniquely, One Orijin is only one of two processors in the state of Ohio that are extracting cannabis using solventless methods - as far as we are aware. Solventless extraction allows for concentrated cannabis products without the use of solvents such as butane or propane that are often used for large-scale concentrate production, leading to a cleaner end-product for consumption.
What Products Are Available from One Orijin?
One Orijin came right out of the proverbial gate with a vision of high-quality cannabis products at an affordable price:
Tinctures: 440 mg THC for around $80, compared to 220 mg for $60 from other processors.
Rosin: 1:1 (506 mg CBD/487.8 mg THC) Flower Rosin with CBD isolate for $90 for a full gram. The first flower rosin options will include Blue Boi cultivated by Ascension and Afghani cultivated by Riviera Creek.
Edible Oil: 440 mg edible oil for $80, compared to about $45 for 110 mg edible gummies currently available.
*Note: dispensaries have the final say on the pricing of medical cannabis products in Ohio, not the processors or cultivators.*
One Orijin has a ton of other processed products coming in the future, so be sure to ask your local dispensary about One Orijin products!
